MINNEAPOLIS – By bus, or train, even bicycle, transportation in the Twin Cities has dramatically changed in the last decade and thanks to car sharing programs, those without vehicles are finding it even easier to be car-free.

This hub is now also closer to the bus routes that run on Snelling and Minnehaha Avenues.

The Hamline hub’s new location is off Englewood Avenue, just to the east of the intersection with Snelling Avenue. The hub is in the small surface parking lot that is behind the Super America store at Snelling and Englewood.

We need your help. During our current 31-vehicle expansion, we’d like to locate several new HOURCAR hubs in convenient curbside spots around Minneapolis. After more than two years of discussion, the City of Minneapolis has told us that this will not be an option.

At the same time, Minneapolis is about to sign a contract with car2go, the one-way car rental service of Daimler AG, manufacturer of the Mercedes-Benz and Smart model cars.

Laha has used his bike to commute to work in downtown Minneapolis for years, and Kromhout has relied on public transit for her daily commute.

“We had no desire to go out and buy a car,” said Laha. And so far, car sharing has worked out pretty well for the couple, who are in their late thirties.
